  About Me

Zhi Luo
Zhi Luo - CG artist
Hi, this is Zhi Luo (羅致, Chi Law, Cantonese). I graduated from NYU with a master degree in Digital Imaging and Design in the summer of 2010. Since then I have been freelancing (CG artist) at Curious Pictures until Jun 2011 when I became a staff CG artist there. I worked on the xbox kinect game Deepak Chopra's Leela as major CG artist for more than a year. More recently I created animated transitions between chapters for the Spurlock's Comic-Con Episode IV.  I also worked on the Christmas Special for Eureka as one of the compositors for the clay stop motion part. I did some 3D texturing and rendering and compositing for several commercials in 2011.

Back in college, I fell in love with the animated films I saw in school library and decided to change my career path.So I finished school, got my bachelor degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering (Multimedia concentration) and applied for schools in the States. I am still learning every day on the job and enjoying it. Was that four years of engineering training wasted? I don't think so. I believe the understanding of how the code side works helps an artist to comprehend the software better and keep hardware efficiency in mind. Lately I have been doing some scripting for After Effects and Maya. I am glad that I could still use some knowledge I gained couple years ago.
