Zhi Luo a.k.a Googa

After graduated from NYU with a master degree in Digital Imaging and Design in the summer of 2010, I worked as a full time CG artist at Curious Pictures. Creating previz and game asset for the xbox kinect game Deepak Chopra's Leela was my major responsibility in the first year there. After that I created animated transitions between chapters for the documentary Spurlock's Comic-Con Episode IV and also worked on the Christmas Special for Sci-fi show Eureka as one of the main compositors for the clay stop motion part. I also did 3D texturing, hair and dynamics, rendering and compositing for several commercials. My last few projects with Curious Pictures include 3D backdrop game asset for the xBox One kinect game Zumba Fitness World Party, environment design and 3D shading, lighting and compositing for Goldie and Bear of Disney Junior. I also worked as lighter and compositor for the pilot of Showtime show Happyish.
Since early 2013 I have been helping with the award winning documentary director Yawei Li's documentary "Contest in Yi Village", which won 2 National titles in China. Starting 2014 I devoted most of my time to documentary filming. My first short documentary "Runcation" has been selected by DC Chinese Film Festival, NYC Independent Film Festival and Shenzhen Youth Film Festival. I also started a mini documentary series GoogaGaga's Memo with my partner Stephanie Yang, which had received lots of positive feedback from our Chinese audience from Tudou -- one of the biggest platform for online videos in China. I did a short documentary on 3D Raptor Hand. It was used by the non-profit group E-Nabling for several public events, such as 3D Printing Conventions. I had been working on my next documentary about thru-hikers along the Appalachian Trail and some other projects with director Li since.
I attended ctn in LA in year 2015 as exhibitor. In 2017 I will exhibit in Five Points Festival in NYC, AwesomeCon in DC and Boston Comic Cons. My self-published children's books The Fantastic Animals and Fantastic Letters will be sold at these festivals.
